How to book the best Oak Island rental home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Southport area. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Southport vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose a perfect Southport vacation home:

  • To start, have your group select a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. MilRay: Dog-friendly Home Centrally Located in Yaupon Beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If there's a particular Southport beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
