When to visit & When to book:

  • Summer is high season in the Southport area. To find the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.

  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
