Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Southport area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Southport area, The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Planning and choosing yourvacation home:

  • First, have your group select the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Ocean-view home near beach with private heated pool, outdoor shower, & elevator has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

During your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
