Tips to get the optimal Southport vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Oak Island. To get the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Finding the perfect vacation home in Oak Island:

  • Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Surf Watch: Oceanfront House in East Beach With Covered Gazebo has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Southport beach you crave, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
