You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
• The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
• Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
• Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
• Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
• Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
• Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it.
