Stroll to Shoals is ideally located near the beach but tucked away in the forest at Sumner's Crescent in Cape Fear Station near the Conservancy, Captain Charlie’s, and the Shoals. Appreciate listening to the ocean waves and taking peaceful strolls to East Beach for sunrise and South Beach for sunset.

Located among 300-year-old grand live oak trees, the home sits off the street and is very private yet close to the main community and park. Upon arrival, cross an inviting bridge-like boardwalk with a sizable deck area to access this home. Then settle in to relax on one of numerous decks or the screened porch and take in the natural beauty of the island.

An open living space, kitchen, dining area and half bath are located upstairs with lofted ceilings and broad window vistas of the treetops. Savor coffee, drinks or a good book on the upstairs deck while watching birds and listening to the sounds of the ocean.

A reverse floor plan with bedrooms on the first floor of the main home includes a primary bedroom suite with queen bed and full bath. The kid-friendly guest room offers two twin beds, a daybed with trundle and full bathroom with bathtub. Both bedrooms open onto a huge screened porch and private outdoor seating area.

Adjacent to the main home is a comfortable crofter with a queen bed, full bath, mini-refrigerator, coffee or tea station, and a balcony located in the trees.

The home has two 4-passenger golf carts. An outdoor shower and gas grille are located off of the huge deck area between the main home and the crofter.

Temporary memberships for guests of this property are available for additional costs at Bald Head Island Club (with golf option) and/or Shoals Club. Both clubs require advance registration forms and costs for temporary membership. Inquire at time of booking for details about the club options, amenities, etc.

Two outdoor video cameras monitor the exterior of the home. Footage remains private and in no way infringes upon the expectation of privacy in these public areas.

A $300 non-returnable pet fee is required if a dog is supplied Quotes from some of our guests:

We look forward to returning in the future!" The M family April 2022

Our top Vacation rental home tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Quiet, Wooded Sanctuary - Near Sunrise and Sunset Beaches - Dog Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Southport destination you love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your visit:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
