Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Holden Beach. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Southport area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • Select vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Salt, Sand and Sudds - Lovely home with POOL! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Document any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
