Strategies to get the best Southport rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Carolina Beach. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.

Selecting the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Sea La Vie on the Boardwalk & Ocean has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
