How to book the best Southport vacation rental experience:

When to book a Southport rental home & When to go:

  • In the Southport area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. Booking your Southport vacation home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your group commit to trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Z-Scape: 5 Bed\/4.5 Bath Oceanfront Home with 2 Family Rooms and Gourmet Kitchen has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If not, email the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Southport attraction you simply love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
