Our top Wilmington rental property booking tips and tricks:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • To get the best value, shift your family's Southport vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
