Historic appeal abounds in this turn-of-the-century arts and crafts era home located on a peaceful one-way brick lined street in Downtown Wilmington. Boasting 3 bedrooms, 1 full bath, 2 half baths, 3 covered porches, and a private backyard, this historic gem is ideal for families, friends, and old home lovers. This home was remodeled over the course of numerous years with emphasis on restoring and preserving the original details. The big pocket doors which separate the living room and dining room are entirely functional. Fireplaces throughout the home are non-functional but boast pretty surrounds and mantles. The original woodwork and trim are throughout and the original wood floor was restored. With a new living room couch, chandeliers, period correct furnishings like handsome armoires and desks, and some windows with wavy glass give them home a enchanting vintage feel.

The appealing neighborhood is full of meticulously restored historic homes and the short walk to the riverwalk and other destinations in the heart of downtown is a very pleasant one. The neighbors are friendly and often seen appreciating the evening air from their porches with a glass of wine.

All of the common spaces are on the first floor, from the front covered porch to the living room, dining room, kitchen, and covered back porch. The 3 bedrooms are on the 2nd floor up a flight of stairs. All of the bedrooms have new comfortable beds and bed protectors and have room darkening window treatments. The front bedroom which would have initially been the nursery is a modest bedroom with a queen bed. The middle bedroom is bigger and has a California King bed. The back bedroom is enormous and has a king bed and its own private covered porch with lounge chairs.

The kitchen is completely modernized and refreshed, with new cabinets, new countertops, a dishwasher, and a gas stove. It is completely outfitted with cookware, flatware, dishes, and cooking basics. It also has a vintage desk for work or additional prep space.

The dining room table seats 6, has a impressive cabinet with wavy glass, a non-functioning decorative fireplace and mantle, a chandelier, and accesses the back covered porch.

The living room has a new couch, other period correct furnishings, a cute table that is ideal for snacks like a charcuterie board, a non functioning fire place, sizable vintage oriental rug, and TV.

The backyard is sizable and private.

Street parking is complimentary and usually very plentiful.

Southport rental home booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Southport area. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by having your family choose vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Going to Carolina! Historic Downtown Wilmington has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is best for your family.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
