Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to book a Southport rental & When to go:

  • In the Southport area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Sunset Beach. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Southport attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the bestvacation home:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Shell House - Less than a block to beach access and recently updated! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Southport attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
