Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Wilmington rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the best rental in Wilmington:

  • Choose vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Spacious Wilmington Retreat - Close to everything Wilmington has to offer! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
