Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:

Getting the best value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Southport restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Southport area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. SPC14: Beach Memories: Oceanfront, Shared Pools, Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Southport beach you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs applied to your agreement.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
