“Windansea" is an architectural beauty that greets you with coastal elegance at every turn. Life outside is where the true BHI memories are made, and this home provides it in abundance. You will be greeted by a southern lower level covered front porch where you can savor calming while listening to the ocean. Have coffee or drinks or take refuge from the sun or rain on the gorgeous second level porch. Outdoor living continues with the unique 3rd-story covered deck high above the tree-tops (affectionately called “the nest”) which is really an extended outdoor second “family room” where you will likely spend a significant amount of your time relaxing and socializing. It is equipped with an outside kitchen, cushy seating and ocean breezes and vistas. You will appreciate to use this hard-to-leave location for morning coffee, afternoon napping, meal grilling, evening beverages, and of course sunset watching. And if you want still more outdoor space, appreciate the two lower screened-in porches (one relaxing, one dining), multiple kid hangout places, and a private fenced-in yard.

Windansea is located on a private, sizable lot, surrounded by trees and natural vegetation just steps to the Ocean and Shoals Club. Between 212 and 214 Portsmouth Way you will find a wooden plank pathway that goes over the “hill" where you cross Station House Way to #41 Beach Access.

The home is laid out in a reverse floor plan with the primary living space on the second floor, which is at the tree-top level accepting for sunlight to cascade in from the sunrise to sunset. There are dual Master Bedrooms both with King-size Beds and ensuite Bathrooms giving you the choice to sleep downstairs (closer to younger kids) or upstairs (further from older ones). There are two Queen Guest rooms - one with a trundle bed and they share a Jack and Jill bathroom. And, if you need an escape or have a bigger group, there is a separate Crofter over the double Garage area that is the 5th Bedroom with a King Bed and an ensuite Bathroom, mini-refrigerator and counter. “Close but still away” is how we like to describe this private space. The Crofter Deck is a ideal spot for stargazing after a relaxing day at the beach.

The main living area is open, huge and can hold tons of people at any one time, making family gatherings super painless and all inclusive. The entirely outfitted Gourmet Kitchen will allow the chef in your group to make memorable meals for all to enjoy while dining at the XL dining table.

In true BHI fashion, comfortable spaces mesh effortlessly with high end finishes - 10’+ ceilings, enormous Bedrooms, constructed-ins, this high-end bespoke home construction has it all to make your BHI vacation a great one. Additional amenities include beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, beach toys and a gas grille. There are two carts - a six passenger, and a four passenger for your use.

Windansea's namesake is from another well-known beach from the owner's original hometown of La Jolla, California and is definitely a home that will enhance your family vacation and help you create lasting memories for years to come..

Bald Head Island vacation rental tips and tricks:

When to visit Bald Head Island & When to reserve a Bald Head Island rental home:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby tours and attractions.

How to select the perfect vacation home in Bald Head Island:

  • Start by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Stunning 5BR 4.5 BA Home Steps to E Beach BHI and Shoals Clubs Pet Friendly has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
