Strategies to get the perfect Carolina Beach rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer time is high season in Carolina Beach. Booking your Southport vacation home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and choosing the right Southport rental:
- Start by having your group decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sun Skipper #10-E - Wonderful Ocean Views, Short walk to Carolina Beach Pier has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If not, call the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a certain Southport destination you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
