Tips for getting the best Southport vacation rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Southport restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your group commit to the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. The Southport Peach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
