Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Southport rental home:

  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the perfect rental home in the Southport area:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Tranquil Harbor: Treetop Gem with Private Dock and Canal Views, has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
