Finding the best Southport vacation property experience:

When to book a Southport rental & When to go:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Book your rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to choose the perfect rental in Oak Island:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Completely renovated, spacious contemporary house, short walk to the beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the host before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your group.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
