“Valhalla” is a 4 bedroom / 3.5 bath home located in Cape Fear Station. This bespoke marsh front home is walking distance to East Beach.

Valhalla is a reverse floor plan home with the main living area, dining, kitchen, half bath, and master suite upstairs. The kitchen is well supplied with everything you can think of to make your family gatherings ideal. The open floor plan upstairs leads to two separate screen porches both overlooking the marsh. One porch has another full-sized dining area, and the other screen porch has a calming sitting area with a couch set. The relaxing setting is ideal for nature watching and listening to the waves crash in the distance! The modren master suite consists of a king bed, double vanity and walk in shower.

Downstairs consists of three more bedrooms and a separate living room / media room! The first bedroom has a king suite with a private bath. Bedroom two has a queen bed and bedroom three has 2 sets of bunk beds and a twin bed. Bedrooms two and three share a hall bath.

About the Area

Located near the beach, this vacation home is in Cape Fear Station, a neighborhood in Bald Head Island. Smith Island Museum of History and North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Kent Mitchell Nature Trail and The Clubs at St. James. North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher and Bald Head Island Information Center are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Southport area. To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property.   • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
