Our top Oak Island vacation rental tips and tricks:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 15% Off Book by Feb 1 for Stays through May 18 - Hot Tub, Fire Pit w\/ 6 chairs, Fenced In Back Yard has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
