Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Southport area travel guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Choosing the best vacation home in the Southport area:

  • Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 118 Panorama by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
  • If there's an individual Southport beach you are enamored with, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
