Strategies to get the optimal vacation property experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To get the best value, shift your family's Southport vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the right Southport vacation home:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 350 Sun-Rhea by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Advice for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
