About the Area

Located in Bald Head Island, this vacation home is near the beach. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Caswell Beach and Carolina Beach, while Smith Island Museum of History and North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport are cultural highlights. Bald Head Island Information Center and North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

Getting the best value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Bald Head Island. To get the best value, shift your family's Southport vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the Southport area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Custom Brand New Home has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
