How to get the best rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Southport vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Southport area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Southport area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book the perfectvacation home:

  • To start, have your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Lovely Canal Front Beach Cottage with Boat Dock and ICW Access has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
