Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area travel guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick the perfectrental home:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. *NEW* Ocean Views + Steps to the Sand + King Bed has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what is suitable for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
