Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Southport rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Southport restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Make a plan and pick yourrental:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Oceanfront - Renovated 4Bd Home - Closest Beach Access to Ocean Isle - has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Southport attraction you are crazy about, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
