Tricks and tips to get the very best Southport vacation home experience:

Sticking to your spending plan:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Southport area. To find the largest rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose the best rental home:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. RELAX and enjoy Oceanfront living Only steps to the sand Great for families!!! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Southport attraction you are enamored with, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
