On remote Bald Head Island, our villa is in the ideal location. In one direction it's a 2-min. walk to the beach, and in the other direction, it is a 1-min. walk to Bald Head Island Club with access to golf, tennis, exercise center, croquet, pool, water park and slide tower, playground, volleyball, fine and casual dining. A temporary full membership including golf privileges is available with your rental for an additional fee. You can walk to the multiple Club eateries, tennis, pool and water play, playground, exercise center, and even croquet! Our villa also offers the option of a Shoals Club membership with an additional fee. The Shoals Club provides direct beach access, 4 additional dining and exercise options, and pool access.

Life on the island offers the opportunity for pretty sunrises and spectacular sunsets, all accessible from our villa. Combine the island’s natural beauty with multiple opportunities to savor the turtles, osprey, heron, egret, cranes, lizards, dolphins and ibis will have you in awe of the spectacular natural beauty of this striking place. In the evenings, from either the main or upper deck, the crystal clear, un-obscured Bald Head Island sky creates opportunities for moon and stargazing and general reflection of your day’s adventures.

Finding the best rental experience:

When to book a Southport rental & When to go:

  • To get the best value, change your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Selecting the best vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Renovated! Both club options available! Great location next to beach & BHI Club! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your contract.

More considerations:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
