Strategies for getting the perfect Oak Island rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Oak Island. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Southport area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Secluded private OceanFront 3BR Condo steps from the pool golf course and ocean! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
