Tricks and tips for getting the best Oak Island vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area travel guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Slice a' Lime: Ocean View Home with Pool, Elevator has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
