Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect rental home:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Holden Beach. To get the best value, shift your family's Southport vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect rental home in Holden Beach:

  • Select your vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Hobbs Realty - Oceanfront w\/Heated Pool, Boardwalk Promenade with Seating has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
