Our top Southport rental home tips:

When to go & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Summer months are high season in Holden Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Southport area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Hobbs Realty - Oceanfront w\/Heated Pool, Boardwalk Promenade with Seating has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
