Our top Rental property booking tips:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer is high season in Holden Beach. To find the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Southport attractions.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to select the perfect rental home:

  • Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. The Sandbox - Private pool home with beach access across the street! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. Otherwise, email the host before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
