Strategies to get the perfect rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Southport rental home:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Southport vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Choosing the perfect vacation home:

  • First, have your family commit to trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Updated Townhome in Quiet Community has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If not, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
