Tips to get the very best rental home experience:

Finding the best value:

  • In the Southport area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Southport area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Southport area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Whitecaps D ????Oceanfront Condo with Unparalleled Views???? has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a particular Southport attraction you love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

During your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
