Strategies to get the perfect rental home experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Sunset Beach rental home:
- Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Southport visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the best rental in the Southport area:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. @ Ocean Front Guest Friendly Home \"An Emerald On The Beach\" has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. Otherwise, email the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
