Baldy's Haven is in the middle of everything, but still set back for privacy. Located nearly dead center in the middle of the island, it's a short hop to the beach, market, eateries and clubs. The home backs up to the 12th fairway and has plenty of room for everybody. Three bedrooms in the main home and one in the adjacent crofter over the garage. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom and TV. The master bedroom suite includes a sitting area that is ideal for morning coffee amid the forest and golf course. The enormous living room can accommodate everybody. The kitchen is well outfitted and cavernous. The master bedroom has a king. The second bedroom a queen. The third bedroom is a king and there is a king-sized bed in the crofter.

About the Area

Bald Head Island is home to this vacation home. Smith Island Museum of History and North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport are cultural highlights, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Kent Mitchell Nature Trail and The Clubs at St. James. Bald Head Island Information Center and North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher are also worth visiting. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.

Getting the most from your rental budget:

• Summer is the most expensive season in Bald Head Island. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
• The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
• Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
• Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
• Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
• Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
• Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
• Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
• Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
