Strategies to get the perfect Southport rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Summer is the most expensive season in Holden Beach. To find the most suitable rental within your budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Southport attractions.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Southport visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • First, have your family agree to vacation dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Beautiful 3rd Row home @ Holden ~3 min walk to beach! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Southport vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is best for your family.
  • If there's an individual Southport destination you long to visit, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

During your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
