Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Southport area. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Southport vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Planning and choosing your prefectrental home:

  • Begin by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Beautiful oceanfront condo in Ocean Dunes! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
