Tips for getting the best Southport vacation rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • To find the best value, shift your family's Southport vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Southport area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • First, have your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Charming 3 BR townhouse with sound views! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
